The Management Team

JFS is owned and managed by John Shaw and Nigel Grace, both experienced quantity surveyors and construction professionals.

JOHN SHAW (Bsc Hons)

Before becoming a co-founder of JFS, John worked on building, maintenance, refurnishment and upgrade programmes for clients

such as Marks and Spencer Housing Association.

A degree-educated quantity surveryor by background, John also holds several Health and Safety operational and design qualifications.

John has SMSTS and asbestos awareness accreditation as well as a CDM Regulations Certificate and NVQ Level 6 in Construction Contracting Operations Management.

John has exceptional client relationship skills. He takes pride in meeting new customers, understanding their requirements and then delivering them.



During a 30-year careet as a chartered quantity surveyor, Nigel has worked on a range of high profile projects for some of the UK’s largest contractors.

He spent 20 years working for the contractoring firms Bovis Lendlease and Mace, concentrating on new build, fit out and refurbishment projects for such clients as Legal & general, Stanhope plc, Nationwide and Sainsbury’s.
Since 2007 Nigel has been involved in establishing and growing businesses in the construction and property industry, whilst also working for clients including Marks and Spencer and the Construction Industry Training Board.

A firm believer in continuous improvement, Nigel has been active as a lobbyist in several national industry campaigns. He is a regular contributor to industry and lifestyle publications and is co-author of a Sunday Times/Build it Magazine book on how to build your own home.
